Sites, Events and Property

Construction progress, commercial property, outdoor events and real estate listings across the Wellington region.

Planned Around the Rules

Airspace and access checked before the day, and the aerials rebooked if Wellington wind or rain grounds the drone.

Aerial Photography & Video in Wellington

A drone puts the camera where a photographer cannot stand: above a building, over a site or high above a crowd. I shoot aerial photos and aerial video around the Wellington region, often alongside ground-level photography so you get the whole story in one visit.

Aerials are delivered edited and colour-corrected with the rest of your images, ready for your website, reports, listings and social media.

Construction Progress & Site Photography

Construction, civil and infrastructure projects are hard to show from the ground. Drone photos show the footprint of the site, the progress of the build and how the project sits in its surroundings, for client updates, funders, tenders and your own records.

Pair the aerials with my commercial photography in Wellington for the people, machinery and detail shots on the ground.

Drone Coverage for Outdoor Events

Festivals, outdoor launches, sports days and community events look bigger from above. A few aerials show the size of the crowd, the layout of the site and the setting, and they make strong opening shots for a highlight video.

Add aerials to my event photography in Wellington or a video production. Under CAA Part 101 I can only fly over people who have agreed to it, so aerials usually cover the venue and the setting rather than the crowd. Tell me about the event early.

Real Estate Drone Photography

Buyers want to see the section, the roofline, the street and how close the property is to parks, schools and the harbour. Every one of my real estate photo packages includes drone shots: 2-3 with the 15 Photo Package ($390) and 2-5 with the 25 Photo Package ($490).

Drone Rules, Airspace & Wellington Weather

Every flight follows the Civil Aviation Authority rules for drones. Wellington Airport's controlled airspace covers much of the city, and some locations need permission from the landowner or the airport before a drone can fly, so I check the location first and tell you straight away if aerials are not possible there.

Wellington wind is the other factor. If it is too windy or wet to fly safely, we agree a time to come back for the aerials. I cover the Hutt Valley, Porirua, the Kapiti Coast and the Wairarapa as well as the city: see the areas I cover.

How a Drone Shoot Works

Four steps from your location to finished aerials.

  1. Step 1

    Send the location

The address or site, what you want to show from the air, and whether you need photos, video or both. I’ll reply within 24 hours.

  2. Step 2

    Airspace and access checked

I check the airspace rules and any permissions the location needs, and we agree the best time of day for the light.

  3. Step 3

    Fly on the day

Wellington wind and rain decide when a drone can fly. If the weather is against us, we agree a time to come back for the aerials.

  4. Step 4

    Aerials delivered

Edited aerial photos or footage are delivered with the rest of your shoot, ready for your website, listing, report or social media.

Drone photography is a $150 add-on to a corporate half-day or full-day booking. No. I fly under CAA Part 101, the Civil Aviation Authority rules for drones: below 120 m, within line of sight, and only over people or property whose owners have agreed. Much of Wellington sits near the airport’s controlled airspace, which needs clearance first, so I check each location before we lock in a date and tell you up front if a flight is not possible.

Yes. I shoot aerial stills and aerial video. Drone footage works well as establishing shots in a corporate video, an event highlight video or a property video, and video projects are quoted per project.
It shows what you cannot see from the ground: the size and layout of a site, construction progress, a building in its surroundings, the scale of an outdoor event, or a property with its section, street and views. Aerials work best alongside ground-level photos, so they pair well with a corporate, event or real estate shoot.
Yes. For progress photography I fly from the same positions and heights on each visit, so the images line up and show the build moving forward from one month to the next. Tell me how often you need updates and I will quote for the series.
